Raipur:
In a major success for security forces, 208 Naxalites surrendered before the police in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh. The surrendered group also handed over 153 weapons, including rifles and other arms.
Over the past few months, Chhattisgarh has witnessed intensified anti-Naxal operations. Security personnel have successfully countered several attacks and eliminated many Naxal leaders. Following these operations, a large number of Naxalites have been surrendering and joining the mainstream.
Officials stated that the surrender was the result of the state government’s effective rehabilitation policy, the courage of security forces, and the
ongoing development work in tribal and interior areas.
With this latest development, a major portion of the Abujhmad region has been freed from Naxal control. This surrender is among the largest recorded in recent years.
Earlier, 170 Naxalites had surrendered in Abujhmad, after which Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared the area as free from Naxal influence. Currently, only the southern Bastar region remains under partial Naxal impact.
