Chennai:
The owner of the Coldtrip cough syrup brand has been arrested by Madhya Pradesh police in Chennai’s Kodambakkam area, following the deaths of 20 children who reportedly consumed the syrup in Madhya Pradesh.

The medicine was produced by Srisen Pharma, a pharmaceutical company based in Sunguvarchatram, Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu. After the tragic incident, authorities across the country imposed a ban on the use of the syrup.
Officials believe that over 2,000 bottles of Coldtrip could still be present in retail and wholesale outlets in Tamil Nadu. District officials have been instructed to seize all available stock and send it to the Drug Control Office in Chennai for inspection.
The police had been searching for Ranganathan, the owner of the pharmaceutical company, in connection with the case. He was arrested today (October 9) in Kodambakkam, where he had been staying.
Further investigations are underway to determine whether lapses in production or quality control contributed to the children’s deaths.
