Maruti Suzuki has refreshed its premium MPV, the XL6, with a set of new features aimed at improving safety, comfort, and passenger convenience. The latest update comes at a time when competition in the premium MPV space is heating up, and Maruti Suzuki is ensuring that the XL6 stays relevant for family buyers as well as urban commuters.
The most notable change is in the safety department, where the XL6 now gets six airbags as standard across all trims. Previously, only four airbags were offered, but with this update, every variant—from the entry-level Zeta to the top-spec Alpha+—will benefit from enhanced occupant protection. This move aligns with the brand’s focus on improving vehicle safety standards across its portfolio.
Another visible addition is the new rear spoiler, which gives the MPV a sportier and more stylish look. The spoiler also includes contrasting black inserts on the edges, adding a premium touch to the vehicle’s overall appearance. While no new colour options have been introduced, the refreshed styling element is expected to appeal to younger buyers.
Inside the cabin, Maruti has made practical adjustments to improve passenger comfort. The second-row AC vents have been repositioned from the roof to the centre console, offering better accessibility and freeing up headroom for passengers. The third-row occupants now get their own dedicated AC vents along with blower controls, which means rear passengers will no longer have to depend entirely on the middle row for cooling.
Technology and connectivity have also received attention. The updated XL6 now comes with USB-C charging ports—two for the middle row and two for the third row—making it easier for passengers to charge their devices on the go. This is a welcome addition, especially for larger families or long trips where multiple devices need to stay powered.
While these updates enhance the vehicle, there has been a slight increase in pricing. The cost of most variants has gone up by around 0.8%, translating to an increase of approximately ₹10,000 depending on the model. However, given the additional safety and comfort features, the price revision is considered reasonable.
Mechanically, the XL6 remains unchanged. It continues to be powered by the 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces around 102 bhp and 136 Nm of torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The CNG variant remains available as well, though with slightly lower output and limited to a manual option.
Overall, the refreshed XL6 promises to deliver more value to buyers by offering better safety and improved passenger convenience without major design or mechanical changes. With these upgrades now standard across all variants, Maruti Suzuki aims to strengthen the XL6’s appeal as a practical yet premium choice for Indian families.
